Lockdown 2020 surprised us all

Didn't realise what it would entail

There was no war nor an attack

Corona virus did the trick.

We got trapped at home

Went out only for some

No school or college to go

Youngsters stuck without much ado.

Offices asked people to work

From home and said, 'don't shirk'

Initially it was fun to work in shorts

With wife and kid across walls.

There was not much cash in hand

Queued up to draw in bank

Everyone faced similar plight

Neighbourhood was a familiar sight.

Ordered dress, even food and drinks

Received with only online payments

Dunzo, Swiggy, Zomato did brisk business

Sitting at home, life was at snail's pace.

All said, lockdown has been a boon

Some are all over the moon

A few discovered new talent

That were in their mind latent.

Husbands used their expertise to cook

Made rotis and dosas, nice to look

Men did household chores

And women enjoyed the status.

We now have new singers

Dancers, poets, authors

And entrepreneurs with new ideas

Lockdown has helped new startups.

Ofcourse some lost their earnings

Returned to their dwellings

But health is more crucial than employment

India did well with vaccine deployment.
